Belly

A great little restaurant in Eugene, Oregon.

sunny 24 °C

Today was all about a straight drive up to Eugene in Oregon via US Route 101, Route 199 and then a fast 130 miles on I-5 (Mum - that's I for Interstate!).

However, when we got here to Eugene we had an early dinner at a fab little restaurant called Belly. Not only was it only the equivalent of about £25 per head for three courses, including a very nice glass of Oregon Pinot Noir for me and a beer for Paul, but Paul was very excited to realise that he had eaten bacon in all three courses! (In case you're wondering, for pudding Paul had banana ice-cream with 'candied bacon' bits - he said it was rather like when the American's serve bacon with pancakes and maple syrup!).

We're doing a tour of some wineries in the Willamette Valley tomorrow (Paul's tasting, I'm driving), on our way up to Portland....

Bye for now!

I love the thought of a place called Eureka - did you just keep shouting it out randomly ?? And guys, I hope you're counting the calories - the good old US of A sounds like the land of extremes (eg, biggest trees ever). Very envious xx

Hi Debs - we're not counting the calories yet but I'm exercising most days to try and maintain my current weight (which is still way too high !) :)
